Our First Annual Christmas Message

December 24, 2011
By

Unfettered by political correctness, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah.

The ‘holiday’ season is because we celebrate holidays; specifically, Christmas and Hanukkah.  These holidays are based upon the belief in God, and for Christians, the birth of His son Jesus.  Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Savior and is a time to refocus our attention to the basis of our faith.  And while commercialism may sometimes obscure the reason we celebrate Christmas, there is an undeniably positive effect on our society nonetheless.  The spirit of Christmas manifests itself daily during this season as people are a little kinder, exhibit more compassion, and open up their hearts to others.

We ask that as you sit down to your family celebrations, you add an extra prayer to your usual offerings.  No special wording is required and whatever words work for you will be fine.  Our country and the world in general is at a crossroads, with the contrasts between good and evil becoming more distinct with each day that passes.  Ask God’s blessing for peace; peace in our hearts, peace between people, and peace between countries.  Pray that the spirit of Christmas makes its way into the hearts and minds of all who share this world with us.

Pray that the words “Peace on Earth” can become a reality in our time.  And if peace is not the intent for countries that wish us harm, then grant strength and wisdom to our political and military leaders so they can defend our country and our citizens.

Merry Christmas to our families, our friends, and those of you who return to read the words we present.  May your families be healthy and your celebrations blessed.
