The main stream media is at a crossroads this election cycle; fulfill their agenda driven role as defender of the Left, or become an objective and trusted media once again. The first option will earn the love from Democrat supporters, but will be the final nail in the coffin of their industry’s demise. Choose option two, and they will save their industry while allowing the balance of power in the country to shift back towards the right. Neither option is favorable to them and they are trying to have it both ways; be partisan while screaming how non-partisan they really are.
Newt Gingrich’s assent in popularity is the warning bell that the American public has finally tired of the game. Americans want a press that accurately reports the news; not one that actively works to shape it. For too long, the media has interjected their opinions into politics and became activists instead of reporters. The line between news and opinion was crossed long ago, but now, accurate portrayal of the news has become secondary to their assumed roll of king maker.
Here is the sad part America, most of the mains stream press cannot even see where they crossed the line. Their personal agendas have so blinded them that they believe the drivel they report as indisputable fact. Argue their facts and you are demonized and labeled. My phrase, “The truth appears radical when viewed in the shadow of lies” is a perfect explanation of where the majority of mains stream reporters find themselves; they have reported skewed information for so long that they believe their own words. Opinions or facts that contradict their message could not possibly be allowed to stand.
Many have tried to pull back the veil and expose the media bias to the country, but none have done it as successfully as Newt last week. To the Left and the MSM, Newt is the most dangerous man alive; an all-out war will be declared to destroy him personally and remove him from the race. Why so dangerous? Regardless of your opinion of President Obama, it is an undeniable truth that he gained his office through the MSM; they championed opinions that had never been vetted, and buried stories that called for exploration of uncomfortable facts. Anyone who questioned Candidate Obama’s storyline was immediately labeled a racist or a conspiracy kook. The MSM created a tidal wave that carried Obama to the Oval Office.
This election will be different since everyone has watched the President in action and will evaluate him based upon his actions and words as President. That will not stop the media from attempting to help win back to back victories for the President though. Newt has proven his ability to diffuse the media’s agenda and expose their role in the election. His power is not in his ability to debate the questions; no, his power lies in his ability to change the focus of the questions in the debate. This power will cancel out the advantage that a biased media gives to the incumbent President.
Here is the quandary that the press will find itself: the more they attempt to discredit Newt, the greater the voter backlash against the press. In addition, the MSM will get a chance to answer one of their own questions; where has the Tea Party gone? The media will soon find that Newt’s responses to the media has rekindled the emotions of a sleeping giant that was waiting for someone to lead them and their country.
Newt is a game changer for politics in this country due to his ability to challenge the bias of the press. Watch as the MSM and the Left set out to destroy him completely. As this process unfolds, you will also see the press officiate at the execution of their own industry. The media has few options, but the selection of the option they will follow is sadly predictable.
